John Wolf Brennan, geboren 1954 in Dublin/Ir[r]land, war schon zu Beginn seiner Musikerlaufbahn ein Auslaufmodell und ist deshalb heute noch gern zu Fuss unterwegs. Mit dem Ensemble Pago Libre pflegt er eine “stupende Virtuosität zwischen Klassik, Jazz und Folk” (SRF2 aktuell).

Als Komponist schrieb er zahlreiche Werke, u.a. “Traumpfade“ für Alphorn, Obertonstimme und Orchester (UA Tonhalle-Orchester/Kevin Griffiths 2018), “got hard” (UA Alpentöne Festival 2017), “Simmer Wäg?” (UA St.Gallen 2017), “Dädaleum”(paul taylor orCHestra/Solistin: Anna Herbst, UA 2015 Zürich), die Sprechoper “Güdelmäntig” (nach Thomas Hürlimann, UA 2004), die Oper “Night.Shift” (nach Rudolph Straub & W.H.Auden, UA 2007 St.Gallen, u.a. mit Noëmi Nadelmann), “A Golly Gal’s Way to Galway Bay“ für James Galway, “Zum Gipfel und zurück” für Arkady Shilkloper.

Als Pianist schuf er sieben Soloprogramme, zuletzt “Pictures in a Gallery”, “Das Wohlpräparierte Klavier”, „The Speed of Dark“ und “Nevergreens”.

Konzertreisen in Kanada USA, Japan, China, Russland, Ukraine und Europa. Er wohnt seensüchtig bergtüchtig in Weggis (keltisch “Wattawis”: “Ort der Fährleute”) am KlaVierstallwättersee.

John Wolf Brennan was born 1954 in Dublin, Ireland. Internationally known as a composer, performer, improvisor, pianist and organist, Brennan has performed his music throughout Europe, Russia, Canada, China, the Ukraine, the USA and Japan. He has has earned worldwide recognition and received many awards, grants and commissions.

Brennan is a member of several international groups including Pago Libre with Arkady Shilkloper (horn, alphorn), Florian Mayer (violin) & Tom Götze (bass); Pilgrims with Tony Majdalani & Marco Jencarelli, Trio Christian Zehnder (voice) & Arkady Shilkloper, Triangulation with Christy Doran (guitars) & Patrice Héral (perc), Sculpted Sound with Magda Vogel (voice), Sooon with Sonja Morgenegg (voice, yodeling) alphorn) & Tony Majdalani (perc, voice), Fluctus with John Voirol (sax, oboe) & Marco Käppeli (dr)
